iPhone 4 + Salvaged DVD Lens = Macro Camera
See the full gallery on Posterous Inspired by this article. The lens I found was a lot more focused though, so the pictures I could take had a much smaller depth-of-field and are much closer to the actual object. Here’s a pic of what the set up looks like: The lens is set in a 3/8” by 3/8” hole in card stock paper, slipped behind a Case Mate ID Case. ...

How's my Hair? Part II: The Reckoning
Black Friday 2011. An 11-hour shift with a minimal break. It was also my one year anniversary of working at CompUSA. There was a party. You were invited. WHY WEREN’T YOU AT MY PARTY?! I THOUGHT YOU LOVED ME. I baked you a cake and everything. The original always does it better: http://charlotteenglert.posterous.com/hows-my-hair Posted via email from Charlotte...

Video game posters and stuff: Everything must go!
I’ve got a bunch of video game marketing stuff I’m looking to offload:Forza 3 Motorsports standee (Still in box) Nintendo DSi wall advert. Metal Gear Solid 4 (Posters, oversized boxes, etc) Bourne Supremacy Standee Halo 3 ODST Standee (Still in box) (Crown jewel of this pseudo-collection, methinks) Wii Fit Standee and boxes I have a few more bits an pieces lying about… In fact,...
Drawing - "Harley For Short"
@CharlotteEngels: “Charlotte” is really hard to ambigram & @CharlesEnglert already has “Charley” so I’m going by “Harley” from now on. Just to confuse things.- via Twitter [http://twitter.com/#!/CharlotteEngels/status/71488561072975872 ]“Harley” sounds like the name of an action girl, so here is Charlotte being all action-y. Sketched on...

Drawing: Floating Umbreon
First drawing of 2011, and of course it’s another furry. One would think I was a furry myself. Incidentally, One would be mistaken. (They’re just fun to draw.)I need to get cracking on drawing again, so I can do that comic thing I started. Posted via email from Charles Englert | Comment »

Retail Rant
I need to rant.* Like all of my rants, this is the first/only draft and is heavily unedited. The flow is disjointed, but what should be said gets said.I’m starting to remember why I hate retail jobs: The dishonesty of my charge. As a retail employee, I am paid to sell services and products to customers whose problems may or may not require said services and products to fix. At Gamestop, it...

Two New Charlotte Drawings
Now that @CharlotteEngels has moved into my mind, it seems like she’s starting to take over. She plays my games, makes alterations to my clothes… Next thing you know, she’ll be giving me haircuts and sleeping in my bed and doing my homework and eating my meals. *Nonchalant cough* I haven’t inked on paper in a while, but you can only do so much to keep yourself occupied...
How's my hair?
Do I look frazzled? I feel frazzled. Is my hair okay? That was crazy.First day at CompUSA. Black FREAKING Friday. 12 hour shift, no breaks. Trial by fire inferno. Incidentally, I think this is the first photograph I’ve ever uploaded of myself. So there’s that too. Posted via email from Charles Englert | Comment »
@CharlotteEngels
This is your fault, Spanish lady at LabCorp. Also you, @CrimeWitch. And ESPECIALLY you, @CharlesEnglert. (Oh wait that’s me.) A drawing of @CharlotteEngels I started in the second waiting room at LabCorp, after Spanish-speaking-lady called me back there by that name, despite having written my name on the sign-in sheet. … In retrospect, I hope I didn’t do someone else’s...

Voices in my Headset (Doodling at work part 3)
This wasn’t worth cleaning up to the fullest I could, but I still wanted to get this up. Doodled this yesterday, right before a supervisor told me I couldn’t draw on the clock. Incidentally, that was also my last day there. Not being allowed to draw wasn’t my reason, but I still stand that it makes no sense that I have to sit still in a chair for seven hours and NOT be allowed...
Doodling at work part 2
There’s a reason they make us sit at the telemarketing firm: They don’t want me to look like a sexy beast. So I found a new job where I get to stand all I want! Starting very shortly, I’ll be employed at CompUSA, which is much more up my alley than selling things that people don’t want under the guise that they do want them. Of course, that means I’ll have a lot less...
Doodling at work
I suppose any job where I’m allowed to draw can’t be THAT bad. My supervisor saw this and giggled to himself. I guess I haven’t been a telemarketer long enough to get why it’s funny?Day two, and I’ve already heard a story from a “customer” about how he works part time as a caretaker of strippers. BOOM! HEADSHOT!

Clubbin'
Doodled this while waiting in the room of waiting at Alorica, came home and improved it. Compared to my previous attempt at a club dancer, I’d say I’ve improved quite a bit. At least I avoided the cheap “use a gradient to hide the lower body” trick this time! Unrelated; Life suddenly is moving fast. There’s a lot of things going on. At long last, the forward momentum...

Brian Brushwood @ Halloween Horror Nights 2010
@ZicklePop reminded me that I had this little gem of a video from my trip to HHN2010 in early October. Onstage in tan is good friend Greg. Laughing at him from behind the camera is me, with the hyena laughs of Richard right next to me. Check the video’s YouTube page for a bit more info. Posted via email from Charles Englert | Comment »

Englert Shrugged
This picture is not an accurate representation; I do not carry the Earth around while barefoot. I do carry the Earth around, though, and I do complain about it. A lot. The little gold guy in the bottom corner is the logo for the Atlas Shrugged movie, just so we’re all clear on the reference here. Posted via email from Charles Englert | Comment »

Comic Preview
So I’m going to start a comic in October. It should be about as successful as all of my other fantastic ventures. I’ll post more details soon, but I’ve got a nice ‘buffer’ built up for the second half of October. Beyond that? Not even a game plan. This should be fun, right? RIGHT? The Eccentric Circus
Professor Screweyes again. He’s almost as delightful to draw as the Mini Maws. Posted via email from Charles Englert | Comment »
Professor Screweyes
Whoa whoa whoa. His name is Professor Screweyes… and his brother is Doctor Neweyes…. but their last name is different? And his name was Screweyes even BEFORE he lost his original eye? And NONE of this was in the original book? Man. My childhood was littered with really horrible adaptations of OH MY GAWD DINOSAURS SQUEEEEEEE Erm. At any rate. there’s something about the character...
